Bessie is a graphic designer and letterpress printer who loves working with type in its 3D and 2D forms. She likes to imagine her print and web work holding hands and often intersects them by pulling in printed scans or incorporating vintage type that wasn’t digitized.
Aren't these two things polar opposites? Yes However, Bessie sees them as two different ways of working with type and enjoys their differences. Working in the shop influences how she works digitally and vice versa. Knowing that most individuals + businesses need both, she enjoys being able to work with them through the whole process.
How did you get started? While studying at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Bessie found the letterpress shop on campus and took a weekend workshop over the summer. After this class, she knew typography would be a main focus in her life and had fallen in love with letterpress printing. It was an immediate feeling of comfort she got while working with metal type that hooked her. She left Graphic Design to be an Open Major so she could focus on letterpress and started B.IMPRESSED Shop in 2010.
Can we collaborate? Yes! If you're interested in working together please get in touch
